A made-to-measure hanbok pattern, in English

A hanbok baeja drafted to your measurements, not to a size chart.

Hanbok patterns are sold in fixed sizes or as Korean-language paper patterns. Give three measurements you can actually take and get full-size pattern pieces with a scooped armhole, a sloped shoulder, grain arrows and matched notches, the seam allowance already added, a cutting chart, the fabric length to buy, and the sewing order in English.

Step 1

Your measurements

Measure these three

Everything else on the pattern is worked out from them. Measure over the clothes you will wear the vest over.

Drafting proportions (worked out from your chest — change only if you know why)

How it works

Measurements in, full-size pattern out

  1. Enter three measurements. The armhole, neck, wrap and git are worked out from your chest.
  2. Check the sheet map and the cutting chart on this page.
  3. Print the tiled pages at 100 percent, check the test square, tape, and cut.

The baeja is the sleeveless hanbok vest. It has no set-in sleeve and no curved git, so every edge in the draft is a straight line that follows from your measurements directly. That is why it can be drafted correctly to any size rather than graded between printed ones.

FAQ

Before you cut fabric

Why does it only ask for three measurements?

Because those are the three a person can take on themselves with a tape measure. Armhole depth, neck width, wrap overlap and git width are drafting proportions, not body measurements; they are worked out from your chest and shown under Drafting proportions if you want to change them.

Is the seam allowance included?

Yes. The solid outline is the cutting line and already includes the seam allowance you entered. The dashed line inside it is the finished seam line.

Will it print at the right size?

Print with page scaling off. The first tiled page carries a test square; measure it before cutting. If it is not exactly 10 cm or 4 inches, the print was scaled.

How much fabric do I need?

The pattern states the length for the fabric width you entered. A reversible baeja needs the same length again in the second fabric.

Is this free?

Right now, yes, and the full pattern downloads with no account. There is no checkout on this page.

Are my measurements uploaded?

No. The draft is computed in this tab and the PDF is written in your browser. Your measurements never leave it.
